Following weeks of speculation, Team Liquid has announced the signing of French veteran Richard “shox” Papillon to their CS:GO lineup.
This comes only two days after Liquid acquired AWPer Joshua “oSee” Ohm from Extra Salt in a trade. Liquid still has to complete one slot on their 2022 roster, and it has been speculated that Nicholas “nitr0” Cannella may be returning to both CS:GO and Liquid.
Shox is a long-time veteran of the French CS:GO scene, having played for some of the greatest names on some of the most notable squads in his home country, including Vitality, G2, Titan, and Envy. In 2014, he won a Major with LDLC over NiP, the defending champions at the time, at DreamHack Winter 2014.
Shox’s relocation to North America marks the first time in his lengthy and famous career that he has gone outside of the French scene and into an international roster. Shox recently left Team Vitality, where he was a key contributor to the team’s success as well as the ascent of superstar Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut.
While Liquid still has to fill a starting place, it also has three previous starters on the bench. Just a week before shox’s arrival, the team officially transferred Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Jake “Stewie2K” Yip, and Michael “Grim” Wince to the inactive list, confirming speculations that the three of players and Liquid were parting ways.
Liquid’s CS:GO 2022 starting roster includes Shox, oSee, Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, and Keith “NAF” Markovic.
